Klipspruit New Largo
Klipspruit is an opencast and underground mine located 5km from Ogies and Phola Township. Total production from the mine is 9.80Mtpa.

The main opencast pit at Klipspruit was mined out in Q2 FY21; trucks and shovels are used in the smaller pits. The mine is undergoing a phased conversion to underground operations to extend its lifespan. Dragline strip mining methods are used at New Largo. Coal is transported by rail to the Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT), and then exported largely to European markets.
Klipspruit New Largo employed 2 966 people as at 31 March 2025.
Established in 2003, Klipspruit New Largo’s life of mine is until 2053.
Seriti acquired the colliery from South32 in June 2021.
